Louisiana: New Law Requires Board to Implement Uniform Electronic Tax System for Localities
H.B. 558, signed by gov. 6/14/23. Effective January 1, 2024, new law moves responsibility for the management and supervision of Louisiana’s uniform electronic local sales and use tax return and remittance system from the Louisiana Department Revenue to the “Louisiana Uniform Local Sales Tax Board” (Board), requiring the Board to ultimately design, implement, and maintain a single remittance system so that each taxpayer may remit state and local sales and use taxes through a single transaction.
