Kustoff tapped for Ways and Means slot

House Ways and Means Committee ranking member Kevin Brady, R-Texas, announced June 8 that GOP Rep. David Kustoff of Tennessee has been selected to fill the vacancy on the panel that was created when taxwriter Tom Reed, R-N.Y., unexpectedly resigned from Congress last month.

Kustoff is an attorney who was elected to his first term in Congress in 2016. He previously served on the House Financial Services Committee but relinquished that appointment when he moved to Ways and Means.

Brady also noted that the post of ranking member of the Ways and Means Social Security Subcommittee—which Tom Reed had held before he left Capitol Hill—has been awarded to Republican taxwriter David Schweikert of Arizona. An updated roster of GOP subcommittee assignments for Ways and Means is included in Brady’s announcement.
